A student absent more than 15 excused and/or unexcused days of school in grades K-8 shall not receive credit for work passed during the school year. A student absent more than 8 excused and/or unexcused days per semester (semester equals 18 weeks) in grades 9-12 will not receive credit for work passed during that semester. A student (grades K-8) who exceeds 15 excused and/or unexcused days in a school year and a student (grades 9-12) who exceeds (8) excused and/or unexcused in a semester may appeal the denial of credit and/or retention to the School Attendance Committee. The School Attendance Committee is a standing committee composed of five members appointed by the principal and chaired by an administrator. The chair shall vote only in case of a tie.
