ISAAC CHOI OF PEACH COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL IS NAMED PAGE STAR STUDENT

STAR begins each year in participating high schools throughout Georgia when the STAR student is named and chooses a STAR teacher to share in this recognition.  The students and their teachers are honored by their schools and receive special recognition in their communities from more than 165 statewide civic organizations and businesses that serve as local sponsors of the STAR program.  Students then compete for school system titles, and those winners compete for region honors. Region winners compete for the honor of being named State PAGE STAR Student.

The Peach County High School community is very proud of Mr. Choi and Ms. Lycett and the academic excellence they exemplify at Peach County High School with great school spirit and exuberance each day.  Isaac has worked very hard and has been an outstanding student for nearly four years here. His participation at Peach County High School as a dual enrollment scholar and volunteer in various arenas at the school and in the community at large are remarkable.  It is great to see his love of learning and tradition of academic accomplishments acknowledged.  It is even more exciting to see this scholar continue his path of academic achievement at Johns Hopkins University in the fall of 2018.  Ms. Lycett has been a vital contributor of this high school’s educational foundation and has provided a solid base for the academic success of PCHS students for nearly 18 years.  She has also been instrumental in the functions of our Social Studies Department.  We can never thank her enough for her tireless hours of service to make PCHS an outstanding institution of learning so she truly deserves this honor.  They are both truly shining STARS at PCHS,” said Dr. Ken Hartley, principal of Peach County High School.

The mission of the PAGE Foundation is to recruit, develop, retain and recognize outstanding teachers for all Georgia students.

STAR is one of several programs of academic excellence sponsored by the Foundation. Other academic competitions include the PAGE Georgia Academic Decathlon (GAD) and the PAGE Academic Bowl for Middle Grades.  Through its sponsorship of Future Educators Association of Georgia (FEA Georgia), Student Professional Association of Georgia Educators (SPAGE), PAGE Foundation Scholarships and professional learning, the PAGE Foundation works to recruit capable people to the teaching profession and provide career-long professional learning opportunities for educators.

Our STAR Student and STAR Teacher will be honored at the Annual Peach County Chamber of Commerce Focus On Education Recognition Banquet on February 12, 2018 at 6:30 p.m. at the Fort Valley Methodist Church of Fort Valley.  The Teachers of the Year for each school in the entire school district will be honored as well.  Tickets to attend the event can be purchased from the Peach County Chamber of Commerce for $30.00.
