State Official Visits BES

State School Superintendent Richard Woods

Byron Elementary School was honored to have the head of Georgia's Department of Education, State School Superintendent Richard Woods, visit our campus on October 18th.

Officially, Mr. Woods was on site to present our Fourth Grade students with copies of the US Constitution in preparation of their upcoming study of this important document.

While here, a school-wide assembly was held with dignitaries representing Peach County and the City of Byron, as well as the Peach County Board of Education. Those attending were treated to a performance of the Byron Elementary Chorus and the school's Junior ROTC cadets.  Superintendent Woods presented some brief remarks to the audience, toured the school with Principal Keith Lauritsen, and attended a reception in the Media Center where he presented the copies of the Constitution to the Fourth Grade classes.
