Hunt Elementary School’s
STEM Club and Science Olympiad Team
Hunt Elementary School’s S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) club is made up of 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders who have a love for these areas of study. The main purpose of the STEM club is to provide an extra outlet for children who already show aptitude in the STEM areas and are interested in furthering their learning.
Our students will join tens of thousands of students around the world who are participating in STEM clubs. Although the STEM club complements the curriculum, it is not designed to be about writing, tests, or exams. Activities may involve practical science experiments, investigations, listening to speakers, visiting STEM career areas and discussion and reflection. Most of all, it will be fun.
An additional bonus includes participation in the Science Olympiad which will take place in March. Students are selected to participate in up to 18 events and compete against other schools in the Middle Georgia region. Last year was our first year to compete in the Science Olympiad. While our team did not place in any of the events, we gained experience and insight, which are two valuable qualities! We will work to do our best again this year and continue to grow together!
