Solar Eclipse

On Monday, August 21, 2017, we will experience a solar eclipse of the sun. The eclipse will begin around 1:00 p.m. and peak around 2:40 p.m. It will be a phenomenal event, and perhaps one that we will never experience again in our lifetime.

Each school will provide students with meaningful learning opportunities to help them learn about the eclipse. Because the eclipse will pose some safety challenges, anyone planning to view it should wear a pair of solar viewing glasses. We have purchased every student a pair of solar viewing glasses.

We will not have early release for students; however, we will make every attempt to ensure students are wearing their solar viewing glasses and enjoy this once-in-a
lifetime event! Below are our dismissal times:

Pre-K Registration prek

Registration for Peach County Pre-K will begin, Wednesday, March 1, 2017 and lasts through Wednesday, March 22, 2017.   There are 22 slots available at each elementary school. Guidelines and registration packets will be available at Hunt Elementary, Kay Road Elementary, Byron Elementary and the Peach County Board of Education beginning March 1, 2017.

The slots will be filled using a lottery process. Completion of the registration packet by March 22, 2017 does not guarantee your child a slot in the Pre-K class but does guarantee that your child’s name will be entered in the lottery for a chance to earn a slot. The lottery will be held on March 23, 2107. All applications for students received after March 22nd will be placed on a waiting list. If you have any additional question regarding pre-k registration, please contact one of our elementary schools.

All completed applications should be returned to the school you are registering your child for. Remember priority will be given to students within a school’s attendance zone.

Volunteers Needed to Proctor the GA Milestones Test

Dear Kay Road Elementary Parent/Grandparent/Guardian,

The Georgia Milestones test dates are rapidly approaching.  Our test dates are April 10-14.  Our testing times will be 8:45 AM – 11:30 AM each testing day.  If you can proctor a classroom on any of the days listed, please sign and circle the dates below.

A proctor monitors the testing room and observes students during the test while the teacher is following the guidelines of the manual.  You would also circulate among the class while the students are taking the test to make sure the students are on task.

Please see the links below for information sheet about proctoring for the GA Milestones Test.  Please sign up to proctor by calling the school at (478)825-8893 or emailing our parent coordinator at jnew@peachschools.org

Proctor Training will be this Thursday at 10:30 AM & 2 PM.
