Peach County School District Parent Named to State School Superintendent John Barge’s Parent Advisory Council
Ms. Charlene Toaster, a foster parent of two Kay Road Elementary School students, has been selected by State School Superintendent Dr. John Barge to serve on his Parent Advisory Council (PAC). The State Superintendent of School’s PAC is a group of parents from across the state that meets to discuss education in Georgia.

The PAC members are particularly focused on how to increase parent and family engagement to ensure student success. They meet several times throughout the school year with Dr. Barge and serve as advisors and act as ambassadors at parent conferences. They also share the information learned with members of their communities, other families, and schools. Parents are nominated to serve on the PAC by their local school district at the beginning of each school year. Members are chosen by a committee of Georgia Department of Education representatives based on the applicant’s response to questions.
This is the second consecutive year a Peach County School District parent has been selected to serve on the State Superintendent’s Parental Advisory Council.
