AR Day in May at Fort Valley Middle School - Celebrating Student Success

Peach County Parent Coordinators and Counselors are rounding up all Kindergarteners!
Hunt Elementary, Kay Road Elementary and Byron Elementary Schools are preparing now for early registration which helps the schools with hiring teachers and planning transportation routes for the next year. Curriculum & Instruction Director, Annette Ross says "Last year we had to hire kindergarten teachers after school started in August because we had so many parents show up the first day of school rather than taking advantage of early registration. We really want to have all teachers in place August 13th so we won't have to shift children after school has started. It also alters bus routes when 20 additional children join a route. This causes longer routes and sometimes students must move to another bus. If we can get 95% of our kindergarteners registered, we will be able to meet our target! We are soliciting the help of our parents and community. Please go to one of our elementary schools and get your child registered by May 17th. For more information you may contact any of our elementary schools.

International Reading Association 57th annual Convention - Chicago
Ms. Ross, Executive Director of Curriculum and Instruction announced that 5 of our teachers: Joy Bassett, Kristi Canpbell, Michael Lucas, Meldoy Harris & Danielle Hall and Instructional Facilitator, Donnitta Bellamy are attending the convention this week. The teachers with the highest participation points for AR readers in each of their schools were chosen to attend. Four other teachers were able to attend as well: Amanda Hunnell, Terri Moore, Trathenia Evans & Bruce Thomas. We know they are going to bring back lots of good ideas from this convention.

WAY TO GO.... Mr. Lucas! Congratulations to Mr. Michael Lucas, who was named the GA Future Problem Solving Program Rookie Coach of the Year Saturday, March 24th at the closing ceremony of the FPSP State Bowl at the Classic Center in Athens.
