Georgia Milestone Assessment Suspended

Due to school closings and uncertainty surrounding the COVID-19 outbreak, State School Superintendent Richard Woods announced this week that Georgia Milestones assessment testing will be suspended indefinitely.

“Right now, schools’ focus needs to be on the safety of their students and staff,” Superintendent Woods said. “The focus should be first and foremost on health and safety, then on flexible and creative ways to keep learning and growing. It’s common sense: testing and accountability requirements should not place an additional burden on students, parents, and educators during this time, and they will not in Georgia.”

Since Milestones contribute 20% to a student’s overall course grade, Superintendent Woods will recommend a package of waivers for this school year, to be voted on at an upcoming State Board of Education meeting, which will take place via teleconference on March 27. More information specific to CCSD will be published after the State Board meeting.
