Good morning Parents and Community Partners,
We officially have24 instructional days until theGeorgia Milestones Assessment System. This is the moment we have been preparing for all year. We use this assessment as an opportunity for our students to show what they know and demonstrate how much they have learned this year.Testing will begin on April 21 with ELA Section 1. A full testing schedule will be shared as we get closer.
Since we know our scholars will be working hard during testing, we would love parent support in celebrating their effort. Parents are welcome toprovide snacks for your child’s homeroom after testing. If you would like to drop off astore-bought, individually wrapped treat, please stop by or contact Ms. Kimberly Stephens.
🍀 Pathways to Success: Academic Night
We invite all families to join us for our Pathways to Success Academic Night on March 17, 2026, from 5:00–6:30 PM in the FVMS Gymnasium.
This evening is designed to help families better understand how to support their child’s academic growth as we prepare for theGeorgia Milestones Assessment System and beyond.
Families will have the opportunity to:
Learn practical strategies to support learning at home
Engage in critical thinking activities with their child
Connect with teachers and staff
Explore resources that help students grow academically
There will also be games, fun, and gifts throughout the evening—so you definitely don’t want to miss it!
We hope you will join us for a night focused on collaboration, learning, and community as we continue working together to support student success.
📊 STAR Assessment
OnWednesday,March 18 and Thursday, March 19, we will administer our final STAR Assessment of the school year.
This assessment helps us predict students’ readiness for Milestones and allows teachers to build targeted remediation groupsleading up to testing.
Please encourage your scholar to do their absolute bestso we can accurately tailor instruction and support their learning needs.
💻 Chromebook Use
Students are expected to use their school-issued Chromebooks for school-appropriate sites and activities only.
Recently, we have seen an increase in students attempting to cheat on assignments using unauthorized websites or cell phones, which undermines their learning. Chromebook activity is monitored, and inappropriate usage may result in disciplinary consequences.
We have also seen intentional damage to devices. Each Chromebook is checked out to an individual student, and any damage to the device will be charged to that student’s account. If your child has damaged a Chromebook, please contactMs. Leah Lyons to arrange payment so the device can be repaired and ready for use before Milestones testing.
