Good evening, Trojan Families!
We are officially closing out September, and I have to say—the momentum at FVMS is REAL!There is so much happening in the Valley, from great teaching and learning to athletics, celebrations, culture, and opportunities for our students to shine. Here’s what’s happening at FVMS!
🌟 The District Saw What We See Every Day!
This week, FVMS welcomed district leaders into our classrooms for Instructional Rounds, and the feedback was wonderful! Our visitors shared so many positive comments about the teaching, learning, student engagement, and instructional practices they observed throughout our building. As principal, I get the privilege of walking these hallways and visiting classrooms every day, so I already know the incredible work our teachers and staff are doing. But there is something special about having others come into our building and see it too! I am incredibly proud of our teachers, staff, and students for representing FVMS so well. We are continuing to grow, improve, and build something special here at FVMS.
Great things are happening at FVMS!🖤💛
☕ Koffee & Konversations — You Talked, I Listened!
Thank you to everyone who joined me for Koffee & Konversations with Kizzy! Both sessions were incredibly productive, and I appreciated the honest conversations, questions, suggestions, and feedback.
And I want you to know that those conversations don't just end when the coffee is gone. ☕❤️ When you take the time to give me feedback, I take the responsibility to do something with it. Over the past several weeks, I've been listening to students, faculty and staff, and YOU, our parents and families. Based on some of that collective feedback, you will begin to see a few changes and adjustments at FVMS during the month of October. Some things are working beautifully and need to be protected. Some things just need a little tweaking. And occasionally, we have to be willing to say, “Okay...that sounded good, but let's try this another way.”😂 That's part of growing! So be on the lookout throughout October as we share some of the changes we're making based on what we've heard.
Thank you for talking. Thank you for trusting me enough to be honest. And most importantly, thank you for partnering with us as we continue making FVMS better for our children.🖤💛
🏈 You Either Win or You Learn — PLAYOFF TIME!
Whew! Saturday was a hard loss for our Trojan football team. Nobody likes losing, especially after our boys have worked so hard, but I told them something Monday morning that I want them to remember:
You never lose. You either WIN or you LEARN. And Saturday, we definitely learned.
Now it's time to take those lessons, make the adjustments, and get back on that field! Our Trojans will be back in actionTHIS Saturday, October 3, for the FIRST ROUND OF THE PLAYOFFS, and look who we're facing... OUR HOMETOWN RIVALS — THE BYRON MIDDLE SCHOOL EAGLES!👀🏈

🧹❤️ Celebrating the People Who Keep FVMS Shining!
This Friday is Custodian Appreciation Day, and I want to recognize four people who are absolutely essential to what we do at FVMS:
Ms. LaQuesia Ford
Ms. Annie McKenzie
Mr. Felton Banks
Mr. Char'Tyvione Ezell
Our custodians are truly the backbone of our school. They do so much more than clean our building. They prepare spaces for our children, respond when we need help, keep our campus welcoming, and handle countless things behind the scenes that allow the rest of us to do our jobs. Most importantly, they are part of our FVMS family, and we appreciate them! If your family would like to send in a card, a treat, a small token of appreciation, or even have your student simply stop and say “thank you,”please feel free to do so. Let's make sure they know how much the Valley appreciates them! ❤️
📚 Choosing the Best Begins October 1
Beginningtomorrow, October 1, all grade levels will participate in the abstinence-based program Choosing the Best. Parents were provided an opportunity to opt their student out of the program through a form that was sent home last week. If you did not receive the form or would like to opt your student out of participating, please contact me or your child's PE teacher as soon as possible.
🌎🎉 Hispanic Heritage Spirit Week Is Coming!
We have already had so much fun recognizing Hispanic Heritage Monthat FVMS! From our beautiful door decorations to daily announcements and opportunities for students to learn more about Hispanic history, culture, and contributions, it has been wonderful watching our school celebrate together.
And we're not finished yet! 🎉
Next week is Hispanic Heritage Spirit Week, and we will have themed days and activities throughout the week! One of the things I love most about FVMS is the diversity within our school family. Our students come to us with different backgrounds, traditions, experiences, and stories, andevery one of those stories adds something special to FVMS. We want our students to be proud of who they are while also learning about and respecting cultures that may be different from their own. Hispanic Heritage Month gives us another opportunity to celebrate the history, achievements, traditions, and contributions of our Hispanic and Latino students, families, and communities. Our Hispanic Heritage Spirit Week schedule is below.
Let's have some fun celebrating together! 🌎❤️

Please use the break to rest, recharge, spend some time together, and enjoy not having to hear an alarm clock quite so early. 😂 But on October 20, send my babies BACK!We have learning to do and momentum to keep! 🖤💛
🖤💛 Keep the Momentum Moving!
Trojan Families, thank you for continuing to partner with us. September was a busy month, but it was also a month filled with evidence thatFVMS is moving in the right direction. Our students are learning. Our teachers are teaching. Our teams are competing. Our school family is celebrating one another. And we're continuing to build a school where every student knows thatwho they are, where they come from, and what they bring to our school matters.
Great days become great weeks.
Great weeks become great months.
Great months become great semesters.
And great semesters become an exceptional year.
Let's keep the momentum moving!
One Team. One Dream. Growing Together.
